Tomoshu

Being established for over 130 years is a good sign that the fundamentals of any business are sound. The owner-chef, however, is not resting on his predecessors’ nor his own laurels. Tomoshu is a popular, down-to-earth homely izakaya restaurant that serves a large variety of dishes catering to any palate. The fresh quality of ingredients, the dexterity of the chef, the good range of local and national nihonshu sake, and the friendly and helpful attentiveness of the staff coalesce into a delightfully tasty and enjoyable experience.

All dishes are recommended but one must-try is the house speciality, soba buckwheat noodles. The owner learned to produce some of the finest found anywhere in Japan under the tuition of a legendary master of the art in Japan. With luck, a visit by overseas diners coincides with the owner’s daughter helping out. She brings her English language skills, polished in the UK, to add an extra friendly frisson to proceedings.
