Irish Pub The Hive

The_Hive_Pub.jpg

The Hive has joined the long-established PEI pub in providing a western-style pub experience to both a Japanese and non-Japanese clientele. Unlike PEI, however, the Hive places an emphasis on sports, especially soccer and rugby, and both local and international matches continually play out on screens dotted around the pub’s interior. A broad range of beers, both on draft and in bottles, include stouts, lagers, brown ales and IPAs from overseas, and lagers from major Japanese and local craft brewers. These are complemented by a reasonable selection of Scottish and Irish whiskies, bourbons, wines, Japanese spirits - including the Kyushu’s famed shochu - and a host of cocktails. The food menu is no less extensive and includes many old favourites such as shepherd’s pie, fish & chips, and roast beef together with some less traditional but no less popular pub dishes including fried chicken, garlic toast, pizzas, nachos, salads and desserts.

The Hive’s distinct Irish pub-style facade and prominent position in the Galeria Takemachi shopping arcade in central Oita City make it easy to find and an easy starting point from which to explore Oita’s vibrant nightlife in nearby Miyako-machi.
